<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">I have a question. I realize it’s rhetorical but I feel
the need to share my bewilderment by asking it.

Why do attractive, confident, intelligent, financially independent women end up
in relationships with men that want to control them?

For me this is another of the world’s great mysteries.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">I certainly am not
engaging in any kind of man-bashing or degradation of any female who wakes up
one day and finds herself in this situation, I’ve done it myself. Twice.

At a recent fashion event of the ‘ladies who lunch’ variety I was engaged in a
round table conversation with an assemblage of near strangers when the topic
turned to shoes, as it so often does in my presence. After debriefing on the
current preposterous flatform trend the banter turned to sexy sandals and the
all encompassing love affair those at the table had with them, when my
neighbouring seat warmer broadcast to the group, ‘my husband doesn’t allow me
to wear sexy sandals.’

I’m sorry? What? Did someone just slap
me into the 50’s and pop me next to June Cleaver?

I had so many questions I wasn’t quite sure where to start. How does one
identify a pair of sandals that are too sexy? Too much toe cleavage?

Can she make a call in the affirmative on her own or must she present the
offending stem to him for his approval? What other regulations apply? Is there
a clothes / shoe combination rule that comes into play?

Despite near biting my tongue off in an effort to silence my mounting opinions
I simply enquire as to what she means by that. Allegedly, her husband takes
issue if she wears any type of shoe that may garner some kind of attention.
From anyone.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">Clearly there’s an entire list of issues going on with this
particular state of affairs and given I am no psychologist I won’t even begin
to speculate about what they might be but this woman is sadly not unique. I
have heard dozens of girlfriends and near strangers tell very similar stories
and contrary to popular belief these women aren’t doormats, they are
emotionally healthy, physically attractive, independent and successful women.

So what’s going on here? Are women, no matter how ‘together,’ still in search
of Prince Charming? Are we holding onto a childhood fairytale that a man should
come rescue us, to our detriment? Problem is, in this new world of independence
and career success we don’t really need rescuing. The tired old line of ‘let me
take you away from all of this’ doesn’t really apply. I’m sorry, it’s great
that you drive a prestige car and have a balcony with an amazing view – me too,
now can we have a conversation with greater depth?

Don’t get me wrong for every one of these stories I’ve heard a woman
interrogate a man with; What do you? What do you drive? Where do you live?
Three simple questions designed to compile an income review and size up his
potential as a ‘sponsor’ for the gal who aspires to being kept. If that’s your
thing knock yourself out, but don’t think the sponsorship doesn’t come at a
price. I guess it’s up to the sponsored to negotiate terms that work for her?
As a collective group our message to men is somewhat perplexing.

We all like the thought of being taken care of. It is nice to know that if we
need backup our partner will step in and take care of the things we may not
feel equipped to deal with because we are stressed, tired or sick. It can be
romantic to return home and find an outfit laid out for us on the bed with an
invitation to dinner. Spontaneous acts of kindness are thoughtful and sweet and
should not be confused with the degradation of our chosen dress and shoes while
in the car on the way to a party.<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">In simple terms, it’s not really about the sandals being too sexy or a t-shirt
being too fitting, it is about something else entirely.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">As far as I’m concerned if I’m leaving the house in what
is more understated elegance with a dash of sexy than it is stripper-chic, I’m good
to go.

Has this happened to you? Do you have an imposed sexy shoe rating you must follow?
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">

Apologies to those who aren't fans, but the RHW tragics (um, me) are delighted The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills hit US and Oz screens this week.

OTT RHWBH reality star Lisa Vanderpump likes it all big. Big house, big hair, big personality but most of all she loves an even bigger walk-in.

Her new 90210 home debuted on Tuesday night's season premier and her massive department store-like wardrobe is gargantuan.

Vanderpump's master suite is ultra-feminine and includes a huge bedroom, vanity area and swish bathroom (where there's a flat-screen TV that turns into a mirror) in addition to his and hers robes.

In the first episode Lisa claims they have 'downsized' but there is no shortage of fabulousness in her new Beverly Hills home.

'I got a chance to start from scratch, so I created something that I would be happy to live in,' she said told E Online. 'So, I created a little girl's dream.'

When Tamara Mellon strutted from Jimmy Choo in November last year, pocketing a widely reported payout of approximately $135 million, she did so without too much fuss. In lieu of an official statement she Tweeted her 12,000 plus followers, thanking them for their support and signing off with, 'I will keep you posted.'

Despite no further official or unofficial statements Mellon hasn't exactly become a wallflower. Last month she attended the gala openings of the Metropolitan Opera and the New York City Ballet, lunch at the Four Seasons for Barbra Streisand, a screening at the Museum of Modern Art of a documentary about the legendary fashion editor Diana Vreeland and the NY Fashion Week show of Kimberly Ovitz (the daughter of her boyfriend, Michael Ovitz).

This marathon schedule includes speaking engagements and her love life all being chronicled by several publications and bloggers and is probably a reflection of her full-time move from London to New York about a year ago.

'There is so much going on here, it's exhausting,' Mellon told The New York Times recently over lunch at Fred's (the ninth-floor dining room at Barneys New York). 'When you first move it's slightly overwhelming. You get so many invitations that you have four different things to go to in a night. That's a big difference from London, where you might have one good thing every couple of weeks.'

Mellon finally seems eager to talk about her life post Choo. She is writing a book described by her as a nonfiction 'entrepreneur story,' to be published by Penguin Press next year and there's also talk of her testing other aspects of the fashion business and perhaps building a lifestyle brand.

No matter what's next on her agenda there is no doubt it will be well narrated.
Michael Clarke unveiled a special
order Louis Vuitton cricket trunk at LV's Sydney flaship boutique yesterday.

In the spirit of philanthropy and the long time support of the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation and Louis Vuitton, The Cricket Trunk will be auctioned by Christie's to
benefit the Art's Program at The Sydney's Children’s Hospital.

'I have been working with Louis Vuitton for some time and had the
opportunity to personalise it as much as possible. There's an iPod dock and
speaker. I feel very honoured to design this unique piece, being able to create something that embodies my love and respect for cricket and also knowing that all proceeds of the sale will go to a wonderful cause like the Sydney Children's Hospital,' Clarke said yesterday at The Cricket Trunk's debut.

'Kyly (Clarke's wife) and I travelled to Paris to see the Louis Vuitton factory, which
was a great experience, to see first-hand the artisans at work. One artisan
worked across the whole project from start to finish,' he said.

As well as being decked out with an iPod dock, The
Cricket Trunk (which has a reserve price of $170,000) contains valuable
memorabilia, including four signed cricket bats and a helmet worn by the captain
himself.

No room for heels in this one though gals, guess we'll have to get to it and design our own.

The Cricket Trunk will be displayed at the Louis Vuitton George Street Maison in Sydney from October 2nd.

There's no question about it, these shoe aren't made for walking.

A South African artist has created these odd looking sky-high heels designed with the heel in front of the shoe.

The wearer fits her foot into the ballerina-like insole and must lean forward and balance her shins against the front of the shoe or 'heel' to remain upright.

While this is merely an artistic reinterpreration of the high heel it's certainly not one I can see taking off for anyone who isn't Lady Gaga, especially given the bird-like stance they give the wearer.

Conceptualized by artist Leanie van der Vyver and made by shoe designer René van den Berg, they’ve been dubbed Scary Beautiful. Her goal was to 'challenge our current beauty ideals by inflicting an unexpected new beauty standard.'

Van der Vyver’s design was nominated for a design prize at her university, the Gerrit Rietveld Academie.

The design jury applauded the artist’s attempts to 'force the wearer to develop a new way of walking, leaning forward while refinding a painfully fragile balance.'

Think I'll stick with the more traditional scary beautiful 15cm heels.

There have been many moments we've collectively shaken our heads at Lady Gaga's fashion tragedies but I've got to admit, this moment was pure genius.

Gaga stepped out in Paris on the weekend wearing a pair of her trademark super-high black pumps, with a twist. The heels are modeled like the bottle of her new fragrance aptly named Fame.

The pumps feature the same four claws that appear on the lid of the fragrance which is the first ever black coloured fragrance, apparently becoming colourless once airborne.

While some celebs might don a T-Shirt to launch their fragrance it seems fitting (with a dash of PR brilliance)that Lady Gaga would wear shoes that represent her new perfume bottle.

Add a black turtleneck and some white feathers and she's in business. At the time of publishing this piece there is no word on who designed these stilts but I've no doubt we'll find out in the coming weeks.

Love!
Once they learned they were counterfeit, the hot commodities were taken off the black market and placed into the border patrol's possession.

Apparently some of the slick red soles were different shades of red which, pardon the pun, red flagged the haul. The store spans more than 300 square meters and boasts a design concept by Gucci’s Creative Director Frida Giannini.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 260px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitvb568F8E7T7XK9OZQxPqopsyrltxKAab53sSnhrtJWCV68Ue9yxhGe5ZI_WeQ6TdYrccfbCyz51yAq4CPWyxldxFzfRgnPLlWLvUVYMOIJE8vMeoft11747P66wKoQhNqwyPoA/s400/Full+House+%2540+Gucci.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5776705545283194082" />

“I wanted to amplify the luxuriousness of the Gucci store environment and to create an aesthetic, which is complementary to the vision of the House today,” explains Giannini. “This design concept is a modern architectural statement that references iconic Gucci materials and elements of stores from the past. Everything was carefully chosen to make the design stand out while highlighting the collections in the strongest possible way.”

The store is spectacular, the use of rosewood and marble are enhanced with the introduction of new elements like warm polished gold, smoked mirrors and smoked bronze glass, recalling the elegance and richness of the Art Deco era. Aside from the much talked about overwhelming sense of space, its warm luxurious materials pave the way for a very 21st century contemporary look for the fashion house.

There is a wide selection of temptations including men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, luggage, handbags, small leather goods, shoes, silks, timepieces, jewelry, fragrances, the children’s collection and did I mention the shoes? There are oodles of them.

Echoing the House’s riding heritage, the signature Gucci stirrup is everywhere. Pants tuck into boots, golden studs decorate sandals, and tassels characterize high-heel moccasins. Love!

Another fabulous notch in Brisbane’s belt is that this Gucci boutique will be the first in Australia to offer the made to order handbag. While these bags start from $2,800 they are made specifically to your requirements.

I’m sorry what was that my Southern sisters? Sure, come on up to our little country town and get yourself some made to order Gucci. I can hear the stampede already.

Want more on Gucci’s made to order handbags, click here.

Fashionista Faces:

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 262px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD6_a0zqVfI8syTG_FuuOsIabAkbGuv1SDLDCVWhkZraVtg6gDyvWH1C-b2x9Te6m7FUkVxyvvXBwbT7E9mtIMQqJ5ja-mWG9nZ-iN9dSjbsXt3GHyQxuW8uJ97w82rf3PcZ_Z9Q/s400/Lindsay+Bennet+with+John+%2526+Deborah+Quinn.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5776705080070543522" />

Lindsay Bennett with John & Deborah Quinn

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 258px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYLV5nDeKu61zoPOI5K04tHcSLAV6-kmNXMa1diOAEZACSn0owOhGHmK2LZ43hcpyI13RcVpdDrra0ZDMbbJ2-IiKCqcIpXFwj-gA7t8OYnqyHgtJ-rH4SWncuBoAysPYcnELoRw/s400/Troy+Cassar-Daley+%2526+Laurel+Edwards.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5776704965918483458" />

Troy Cassar-Daley &
Laurel Edwards

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 247px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicJx4lXiSjicohAYVvkQtXf0ujuiI7wSEuWDg-DBJ4zjY2LM_hoNyp8XoK6rit_aQEghLCBd94XKWNFspSqzkVFnW-FCmkfgDzVDrUqPFbntm4JFsjCEVHDS3sLRalnFO6B3M8mQ/s400/Arthur+%2526+Katina+Tzaneros.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5776704817188589282" />

Arthur & Katina
Tzaneros

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 265px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ_dPU1WW1K8cFiQVgjqYyaYxUMbTAp-i0YOhLpKBmpVxU5FYgVXqUwZfM6v8i2JDd1TeNFtFwiRlNT08urJFai5huGZD55r-d2vwmdonNiYcMMOmHhZYY0K4H1MJAx9cwKfuoVw/s400/Mary+Dickinson.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5776704367525615906" />

Mary Dickinson

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 251px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYeQXWyjcArC4Eukn-P3Ktcc9PAc67171BvsLjgaX94chSiC1CYS6lgbXY6om0r2BtQmfBVHykLCYn55k64W4ZNn7nkTfMTDdbyuAUwr7UbyB0X2tYnNQ4-wcXYJM-FlSN1SstlQ/s400/Georgina+Lewis+and+Amanda+McLeay.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5776704183351409746" />

Georgina Lewis &
Amanda McLeay

@traceygillinder would like to apologize for cheating on Shoe Addict readers. Not only is the food absolutely stunning, the team of owners; Sally, Brad and Skye is Über hospitable, it's in a truly superb and unique position right on the beach at Caloundra's Kings Beach. It is one of our faves and being a very short stroll from our beach house doesn't hurt it's popularity.

Now, if you've not yet heard of Saucy Rose don't despair this gal has big plans for her little label. Having shown her debut collection at last year's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane she has set her sights very high in expanding her intensely feminine swim and resort wear.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 252px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvtfoJBwKtgNbRghysBCXI4DDIC8yAkIyDJoqWcxNhdp1Cgz0Mm_OM2dB4DGSbjxDryIUvGr3rSuLS71pbp6BnSOGgvlETF6OdqhFm9fSazRsXBSCu9C5DnO_KWa0XrhX2JPOTFw/s400/DSC_0455.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5771259326157044850" />
While the beautiful fabrics are handpicked and sourced from New York, the stunning garments are made locally on the Sunshine coast.

"Saucy Rose is all about having fun, being a woman and riding that fine female line between saucy and sweet. The new shoe floor is truly extraordinary."

This one's on the must see in NYC people.

Want more? Visit Barneys New York online.

@traceygillinder would like to apologize for cheating on Shoe Addict readers. Anela and Pedja set out to go global with the app so it made sense to get some experts handling the design and coding, enter Marko Prljić (designer) and Goran Vukšić (programming).

As Instagram has a timeline of photos, ShoeAddicts has a 'Shoeline'; feeding photos your 'friends' recently took featuring their most coveted shoes. Sharing your own shoe pics is pretty straight-forward and is pretty similar to the Instagram method but instead of clicking 'like' users click 'Heel up' to show their appreciation.

The attention to detail is impressive but if you're already using (and love) the diversity of the Instagram stream there is no need to replace it, unless you prefer to see a pure shoe photo feed.

I’ll leave you to discover the joy of ShoeAddicts for yourself and make up your own mind.

@traceygillinder would like to apologize for cheating on Shoe Addict readers. They will combine with Nike+ Running and the Nike+ FuelBand to create an entire digital ecosystem for athletes and aspiring athletes at every level.

I've had Nike+ Running for some time courtesy of my Hawaiian shopping jaunts, and while I haven't really used it to full capacity (if it was installed in my heels, that would be another story), I love a good gadget.

At the heart of this latest innovation is the Nike+ Sport Sensor, a technology built into each shoe that collects information about the users' movement and then wirelessly transmits the data to a Nike+ Basketball or Nike+ Training app on their phone. The data is then translated into different metrics that deliver real-time feedback and information about either their training session or basketball game.

So what is Nike going to do with all that data? Its first plan for this US Summer is 'Game On, World', which is a series of challenges inspired by pro athletes encouraging all Nike+ users to set their personal bests in various categories.

I could set a serious heel wearing PB if this was implanted in my Louboutins.

No word yet on when these kicks will hit Australian shores. The research, published online this month, explored the concept of thin-slicing, wherein you form impressions based on small amounts of information.

The study asked 63 participants to look at the style, price, colour and condition of 208 pairs of shoes and attribute them with personality traits such as 'extrovert or introvert, liberal or conservative and the degree of their emotional stability, agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness,' with most participants able to correctly guess the strangers' temperament.

It looks as though those addicted to high-end designer heels were pegged as high earners, while flashy or colourful footwear 'belonged to extroverts' and shoes that were well kept belonged to 'conscientious types'.

'Practical and functional shoes generally belong to agreeable people, ankle boots fit with more aggressive personalities and uncomfortable looking shoes were worn by calm personalities,' according to the study.

I hate to say it, but some of us have been judging men and women by their shoes for many years. Can you really judge a person by their shoes?

@traceygillinder would like to apologize for cheating on Shoe Addict readers. Take anything but the shoes...

New York hedge fund manager Daniel Shak is suing his ex-wife because he claims she kept him in the dark about her extensive shoe collection, according to America's ABC News, and that it should have been part of their divorce settlement.

Shak claims his professional poker player ex Beth Shak never told him about her mammoth collection of designer stilts when they divorced three years ago, alleging she kept the 1,200 pairs of shoes in a secret room, and now he wants his ex to hand over some coin for his portion of the shoes.

It seems Beth, who is well known in World Series poker circles, is not only known as a card shark - she’s 'all in' when it comes to her shoes and was even featured in the documentary 'God Save my Shoes' about women and their love affair with heels.

Daniel Shak believes her collection is worth about $1 million USD and says he's entitled to about 35 percent of that.

In just a few clicks it's pretty easy for the world to see this is one serious shoe addict. Her personal website bethshak.com and a blog she uses to discuss her obsession (shoesrforever) make no secret of her passion for stilts.

Please. There's not a woman alive who hasn't tried to hide at least one expensive shoe purchase from her husband but I'd seriously question ones ability to hide the purchase of 1,200.

No woman is that good and no man that clueless!

At this point I'd ship him a few used heels and thank him for the global publicity.

(Image: Beth Shak's Facebook Fan Page)

@traceygillinder would like to apologize for cheating on Shoe Addict readers.
