EMMY RED CARPET SHOES...& THE WINNER IS

The 2010 Emmy Awards were staged last night at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles and, as per usual, the red carpet was a fashion feast.

According to People Magazine there were no spectacular fails, but there were some spectacular achievements.

While singer Jewel, reality gal Kim Kardashian, stunning Claire Danes and Sofia Vergara all looked amazing, the true shout out goes to these lovely ladies and their shoes.

US reality mum of the Uber clan Kate Gosselin looked amazing in black Carmen Marc Valvo dress and Valentino shoes. Comedy actress Tina Fey, in an Oscar de la Renta black silk organza gown and Guiseppe Zanotti shoes was also an honourable mention.

Heidi Klum gets my vote, amazing, in a short black Marchesa dress and a dazzling pair of Louis Vuitton heels. I tried these on yesterday - come on Lenny (@ Vuitton) you can do it! They MUST be in my size somewhere...

The Emmy 2010 verdict? The higher the better. Love!

NIKE GOES BACK TO THE FUTURE

Want a pair of Marty McFlys?

The Back to the Future movie series featured many super cool things and while hoverboards may take some time Nike may just present us with sneakers that lace themselves by 2015.

Nike has filed for a patent for self-lacing shoes, complete with a charging station. Despite the fact that not every patent filed means we can expect to see the end product it would be great if Nike makes these shoes a reality.

Of course you'll be pleased to know that the patent for these shoes also details lights on the sides of the soles, as well as a light up Nike logo on the tongue of the shoe. If you're going to go for it, go hard!

Click here for more images of the Nike patent.

GLORIOUS WESTWOOD ON SHOW

The glorious Vivienne Westwood is exhibiting her iconic shoes in an exhibit @ Selfridges, London, opening today.

Shoe aficionados will not want to miss this exhibit.

This is the first time the British designer has showcased her shoes, from across four decades, featuring 200 pairs of stilts.

Funnily the aforementioned Naomi Campbell's memorable purple platforms which caused the Uber model to spectacularly and famously tumble on the catwalk in 1993 will also feature, as will the infamous Westwood Pirate boots, first appearing in '81, but still favoured by fashionistas.

Vivienne Westwood Shoes: An Exhibition 1973-2010 opens 26th August at Selfridges and is free entry. If you're in London, put it in the diary!

NAOMI'S SHOE HISSY-FIT

You have got to love Naomi Campbell. There is no shortage of hilarity with her around.

Oh Lordy, there's a shoe shortage on 'The Rachel Zoe Project.' The celebrity stylist is helping Naomi Campbell plan a last-minute charity fashion show for Haiti, and the supermodel doesn't like what she sees.

There aren't nearly enough shoes. All the showrooms are closed, but that's no excuse: Campbell pulls out a cell phone for each hand and starts dialing.

"When Naomi starts calling the designers herself, it's like of course I'm going to feel completely stupid," says Zoe.

HILTON DOES SHOES

Another day, another 'celebrity' shoe line.

Paris Hilton stepped up in Vegas on Wednesday (August 18) to debut her Spring 2011 shoe collection at Magic Convention, Las VegasConvention Center.

The day prior Hilton said, "Shoes are such an important part of a woman's wardrobe, I always try to design shoes that are flirty and fun, that will make a woman feel stylish and sexy when she's wearing them. After all, every woman needs a good pair of heels!"

Yeah. Ok. Thanks Paris.

MOST BIZZARE SHOES IN HISTORY

I love Listverse. Who wouldn't love an out-there website that publishes all manner of Top 10 lists? This list looks at ten bizarre styles of shoe from early to modern history.

From the Japanses Okobo & Lebanese Kabkabs (shoes, not a meat wrap) through to Alexander McQueens's Armadillo this is a much a minuscule history lesson as it is entertaining.

My favourite on the list is the 80's ballet boot that began as a fetish shoe and grew in popularity as a fashion statement, particularly in Japan. This shoe merges the look of the traditional ballet slipper with the ultimate high heel.

According to Listverse the illusion is to force the wearers feet almost en pointe, like those of a ballerina using an ultra long heel. The Ballet Boot originally gained popularity in the 1980′s, and is now available worldwide through specialty stores and online. You may have guessed, but these shoes are not intended to be worn for any extended period of time. The shoes (based on the images one finds on google images) seem to be rather popular with fetishists.

Check out the entire list and images @ Listverse.

REPORT ME

The minute Kim Kardashian set foot on the red carpet in gladiatoresque Report stilts I was hooked. (Because of the shoes, not Kardashian).

Not sure if it's selective perception or if these shoe have in fact been everywhere lately? Making their mark in numerous magazines including US Vogue, People, Seventeen and Lucky, it certainly seems so.

Currently only found in the US at Nordstrom and online at Zappos this Bellevue-based company has its first flagship shoetique in its home town in Bellevue Square.

The Report brand has been evolving for 30 years, launching in 1993, it has two lines, Report Signature and Report. The Signature collection is typically more luxurious, sexier with a dash more chic, while Report is more the everyday shoe covering flats to over-the-knee boots.

Love! For more info visit Report.
