LOUBOUTIN SPRING SUMMER 2011

Shoe icon Christian Louboutin's dazzling new Spring Summer 2011 collection ad campaign is amazing.

Colourful and sumptuous the slick red soled Louboutin's are stomping, jumping, kicking, flying and riding rocket powered skateboards. (Hey, I've worn mine whilst riding on a power wing scooter...)

The glorious series of images entitled Louboutin Spring Summer Tour was photographed by Khuong Nguyen. Love!

PLEASE EXPLAIN: HELENA BONHAM CARTER

Helena Bonham Carter explains her mismatched shoes and talks Oscars outfit with PEOPLE.com

"Sometimes I get it right and I sometimes I get it wrong," Bonham Carter, 44, tells PEOPLE. "But fashion is all about having fun. I think fashion has been hijacked by the fashion industry creating rules on what one should wear and I feel like breaking the mold and seeing that the world won't crumble."

I love this woman. Read the entire story @ PEOPLE.com

SHOES TO SAVE THE COLOSSEUM

I love this story. According to BBC News, the founder of the Tod's luxury shoe brand has said he will cover the cost of restoring Rome's Colosseum. (Of course he will).

BBC reports that officials have accepted Diego Della Valle's offer to sponsor the restoration of the ancient Roma arena.

Rome's mayor described news the city finally had the funds to undertake the project as "the end of a nightmare".

The restoration work, which will cost some 25m euros (yes, that's $34m), is expected to begin at the end of the year and will take two and a half years to complete.

"A monument that represents Italy in the world must be restored, and a company that represents Made in Italy stepped forward to say, 'If you need us, we are here'," Mr Della Valle, who founded the shoe company Tod's, told a press conference.

The ancient Roman arena, which dates from 80 AD and attracts some six million visitors a year, is blackened by pollution and shaken by the vibrations of an underground metro line that runs nearby.

The monument is expected to stay open to visitors during the period of restoration and Mr Della Valle promised he would not use the structure as a vast advertising space.

"I won't put Tod's shoes on the Colosseum," he said.

I guess shoes can save the day. To read the full story click here.

H&M + SWEDISH HASBEENS = CLOGS

Just when you thought it was safe to slip off your clogs…

On the back of its super-successful collaboration with Lanvin, UK born H&M has announced their latest alliance with cult label Swedish Hasbeens.

Swedish Hasbeens launched 3 styles created especially for H&M, no surprises, they are of the wooden-soled variety.

The gladiator-style wedge, with three buckle ankle straps and a progression of straps going over the foot, all sitting on a wooden wedge, comes in cream, tan on a pale wooden wedge and black on a black base.

The second model is a chunky heeled sandal with one ankle strap and comes in cream and red on a pale wooden base. The third style is a peep-toe slip-on wedge on a wooden sole, with snake-effect leather laced on top.

For my part, I’m not an enormous fan of the clog but I do love that H&M are collaborating with smaller boutique labels.

The collection hits stores April 20th & will range from £34.99 – £39.99.

Any thoughts? Are we loving or hating the clog hanging on for a little longer?

LOOTERS HIT SHOETIQUE ICON MARYONS

In what has been reported as the biggest looting crime so far in the 2011 Queensland floods, Queensland boutique shoe icon Maryons has been robbed of stock worth $50,000.

The gorgeous and usually happy Claire Campbell is none too impressed in this picture taken by the Courier Mail, saying, "I can't believe they would kick us while we are down."

They now have to deal with a flood clean up in Maryon's Rosalie store and the loss of stock.

"Now we've had to put on security guards to work 12 hours a night until we know they're safe," she said.

Queensland police deployed a 200-strong anti-looting task force from Tuesday this week, too late for Campbell but let's hope it stops this horrendous attack on fellow Brisbane residents' homes.

Devoted Maryons customers can still shop online or visit their Emporium, Main Beach or Brisbane City shoetiques.

GLOBES A MISMATCH FOR HELENA

Granted it has taken something completely outrageous to get my head out of the devastation of the floods currently in Australia, thank you Helena Bonham Carter for the comic relief.

(While we're on that topic if you can assist with donations please click here. This is an incredibly catastrophic disaster and help is desperately needed).

Back to the shoes... Helena Bonham Carter presented at the 2011 Golden Globes red carpet today wearing mismatched shoes. Bless. I love this woman.

No surprise, this certainly isn’t the first time The King’s Speech star – who is married to film director Tim Burton – has had her ensemble publicly criticised.

Who knows why the actress decided to accessorize her Vivienne Westwood frock with one green and one red shoe.

Can't wait to see how she turns up for the Oscars...

NEW BALANCE GOES IVY LEAGUE

American Ivy League students can now show their school spirit from head to toe, as New Balance launches a line of Ivy-inspired sneakers.

Dubbed the "Ivy Collection," the "hiker-sneaker fusion" kicks will come in an array of Ivy colours.

This season the New Balance H710 has successfully released in several styles from muted to popping. Next year, the hiker-sneaker fusion will get several looks inspired by the upper crusts of American higher education, the Ivy League.

Ivy League colleges include; Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Princeton, Harvard, Dartmouth, Pennsylvania and Yale, how many will make the cut has yet to be determined but rumour has it only six of the eight make the cut.

Each sneaker features the University emblem on the tongue and colours inspired by the school colours. The collection includes both mid and low cut versions of the sneaker.

Look for a US release in late January 2011.

CRYSTAL HEADS TO RIO WITH CHOO

The fabulous Crystal Renn is the new face of Jimmy Choo Spring Summer 2011 campaign (replacing Amber Valletta).

For Spring Summer 2011 Choo heads to Rio. Its tropical climate, glamorous beaches and characters, sun-bleached colours and wild carnival nights inspire a collection of hot hues, vibrant fabric mixes, and scaling heel heights.

Add to the line-up a cocktail of Jimmy Choo DNA – animal print, exotic python, sparkling jewels and feel the summer sun.

This is a great coup for Renn who started her modeling career in high fashion at the age of 14 after being spotted by a professional scout in her hometown in Clinton, Mississippi.

She was told she would need to lose almost a third of her total body weight if she wanted to become a model. This extreme weight loss eventually triggered a health crisis, causing her to reassess her diet and exercise habits.

After gaining 70 pounds (32 kg) and re-emerging as a U.S. size 12, she was re-marketed by her agents as a plus-size model. Renn has authored a book, 'Hungry: A Young Model's Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves', about her experiences in the fashion industry in relation to her several body type transformations.

Love! She looks amazing.

(Shout out to Sassi Sam for the heads up)

SLIM MAGAZINE - IF THE SHOE FITS

Check out Tracey's interview in the latest issue of Slim Magazine - out in hard copy today or online here.

IF THE SHOE FITS

Shoes are a gift from the gods; all girls need shoes, lots of shoes, luscious, gorgeous, sexy shoes.

Every woman knows the fastest way to lose five kilos is to don a pair of strappy stilettos. Dress sizes may vary but when nothing fits, the shoe will. Shoes don’t take up much space in the wardrobe. Serious shoe addicts know how to store around 200 pairs in a secret place away from partners with prying eyes and absolutely no idea why we always need another pair of shoes.

Tracey Gillinder is a self-confessed shoe addict. The go-to girl behind major marketing campaigns for luxury car companies and social events now unashamedly shares her addiction on line.

Tracey’s Shoe Addict blog has an international readership spanning 114 countries.
Her fun and feisty take on life is usually coupled with a pair of killer heels.

Tracey has contributed to the book Who Needs Prince Charming due for release in April this year. This collaboration by inspiring women from all over Australia is packed with tips on how to make the most of life and love.
